Hi crochet friend!
For Christmas 2015, my mom sent me a package with about 12 skeins of lace yarn that she found at a thrift store. She knew that I had gotten into crocheting a lot, so she thought it would be something I’d want to try. And I did! But, here I am over a year later and I still have all of that lace yarn sitting in my yarn pile.
I did make a beautiful bonnet for my little girl’s baby doll, but that was as far as I had gotten. And I’ll be honest, I was a little nervous. Lace yarn is so small and delicate that it can be intimidating!
But this time I was determined! I knew I needed to make something and I wasn’t going to let myself chicken out this time. So that’s when I decided that my sweet Louisa needed something: a headband.
She has been refusing to wear her hair up lately and it’s driving me nuts! I’m sick of her getting food in her hair and everything else. It also just looks so disheveled all the time, I feel like people must think I’m a terrible mother.
Anyway, once I made her this adorable lace headband, she was so excited! She has insisted on wearing it all the time. So, problem solved!
And here it is. I love this simple pattern so much and hope you do, too!

Scalloped Lace Toddler Headband
Material:
1 skein of Cotton Fingering Lace Weight Yarn (Size 10)
Yarn Needle for sewing in ends

Stitches:
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
sk – skip
Size:
Toddler Headband should be 18 inches around. (Always maintain this or it will not fit your toddler. Add or remove chains in groups of 4 if needed)
Gauge – 1″ = 6 stitches x 4 rows
Pattern:
Chain 100,
Round 1: ch 1, sc in 2nd chain from hook, sc in each chain to the end, 2 sc in last chain. Continue working a sc in each stitch on other side of chain making sure that you have a total of 100 sc across each side of work, sl st to join.
Round 2: ch 1, sc in first stitch, sk 1, 5dc in next stitch, sk 1, *sc in next stitch, sk 1, 5dc in next stitch, sk 1* to the end of row. Turn to work on other side of work (make sure you are matching dc and sc with other side), 5dc in next stitch, sk 1, *sc in next stitch, sk 1, 5dc in next stitch, sk 1* to the end, sl st to join.
There should be 25 clusters of 5dc on each side of headband.
Sl st ends together and finish off.
