Hi Crochet Friend!

For years I have been wanting to design a koala bear stuffed animal. But for some reason, it always fell by the wayside. So this week, I was determined!

Now, I really tried to just make a koala, but it didn’t work out that way. When I saw the plain little guy, I knew he needed something to lift his spirits. Don’t we all?

So to help him, I gave him a nice little top hat and a handsome bowtie. Problem solved!

Here’s to hoping you enjoy my sweet little koala bear as much as my kids and I do! He really is a special little guy.

Happy Crocheting!

Materials:

Stitches:

Gauge:

5 sc x 6 rows = 1 inch square

Pattern Notes:

  • The koala itself will be worked in continuous rounds. Do not slip stitch closed at the end of each round, but instead put a stitch marker in the last stitch or each round, so you don’t lose your stitch count.
  • Make sure the toes are facing forward when you stitch them together. This is why row 15 has a few extra stitches. It is to accommodate this look.
  • Ch 1 never equals a stitch, but is only a turning chain.
  • Eyes, Nose, Mouth, and Ears can be put wherever the crocheter desires, but there are suggestions within the pattern for where to put them.
