Hi crochet friend!
Oh my goodness! Has it really been 10 MONTHS since I posted a new pattern?! Boy, oh boy, have I dropped the ball here. Please forgive me.
But I have a great excuse (or 2…or 3…). I HAD A BABY! Yes, Baby G #5 was born on August 7th at 1:34 AM. Isn’t he just so handsome?! I love this beautiful baby boy!
This pregnancy was pretty rough, and it drained all of my energy from day 1. So, though I was still crocheting, the thought of blogging and publishing patterns left me horribly overwhelmed. Now that my baby has come and my energy is back (for the most part…he is my 5th kid, you know.), I’m happy to say that I have some fun patterns to share with you!
This puppy dog pattern was designed for my nephew’s 2nd birthday back in April. I had so much fun making it for him, and thought the end result was just adorable. He also loved it and carried it with him for a long time, which was a HUGE plus.
You only need 2 colors of yarn for this puppy. It can be made pretty quickly if you already have a couple of half skeins lying around, which I did. So please enjoy this free little puppy dog amigurumi pattern!
Happy Crocheting!
Herman the Puppy

Magic circle

sc dec – single crochet decrease (I recommend the invisible decrease. See attached PDF for reference)
st(s) – stitch(es)
Pattern Notes:
- The puppy itself will be worked in continuous rounds. Do not slip stitch closed at the end of each round, but instead put a stitch marker in the last stitch or each round, so you don’t lose your stitch count.
- This puppy is made with all appendages needing to be sewed onto the body and head. It is not one piece.
- Eyes, Nose, Ears, Arms, and Legs can be put wherever the crocheter desires, but there are suggestions within the pattern for where to put them.
- All colors can be switched out, so it is very easy to personalize this pattern.
- It’s important to count the rounds, so a row counter is highly recommended.
- Follow the following guide for how the number of stitches is communicated:
- The number before the stitch is the amount of times worked in one stitch
- The number after the stitch is the number of stitches you are to work that specific stitch into.
- When stitches are surrounded by asterisks (*), you are to repeat what is between the asterisks the amount of times stated.
- When a series of stitches are surrounded by brackets { }, the series of stitches in the brackets are all worked into one stitch.
- Number in parentheses is the number of stitches in each round.
- Eg. “*2sc, sc 4* 6 times (36)” means “2 single crochets in first stitches, single crochet once in next 4 stitches. Repeat this pattern 6 times. (There are 36 stitches in this round.)
