Hi crochet friend!

It sure has been a long time since I’ve posted last! But today I have a great new FREE pattern for you: A Classic Baby Bonnet!

This classic baby girl bonnet is a simple and quick free crochet pattern. It uses the bean stitch and light weight baby yarn like Sweet Delight's Baby Bee.

This Classic Baby Bonnet is a beautiful pattern that incorporates the Bean Stitch. This pattern comes in 0-3 months and 3-6 months sizes, but can also be made as a premie bonnet by going down a hook size for the 0-3 month pattern.

Once I learned this stitch, I fell in love! The texture is just so soft and simple. It made me so happy to imagine a snuggly baby girl wearing this beautiful classic bonnet. I know you’ll love to make it for the sweet baby girl in your life, too!

Happy Crocheting!

Pattern Notes:

  • This pattern is only written for sizes 0-3 months and 3-6 months.
  • Pay attention to the gauge, because it is very important for the proper fit.
  • Ch 1 DOES NOT count as stitch at beginning of round, but DOES count as stitch when used after sc or bean stitch.
  • Ch 3 will ALWAYS count as a double crochet.
  • Whenever joining rounds, slip stitch into the 3rd chain of the Ch 3, because Ch 3 is the first stitch of the round.
  • Follow the following guide for how the number of stitches is communicated:
    • The number before the stitch is the amount of times worked in one stitch
    • The number after the stitch is the number of stitches you are to work that specific stitch into.
    • When stitches are surrounded by asterisks (*), you are to repeat what is between the asterisks the amount of times stated.
    • Number in parentheses is the number of stitches in each round.
    • Eg. “*2sc, sc 4* 6 times, sl st to join. (36)” means “2 single crochets in the first stitch, single crochet once in the next 4 stitches. Repeat this pattern 6 times, slip stitch in first stitch of round to join. (There are 36 stitches in this round.)”
