Free Pumpkin Baby Pullover Pattern

Hi crochet friend!

About a month ago, I release my Fall Pumpkin Pullover as a paid for PDF. Today, I’d like to release sizes 0-12 months for FREE!

I’d love for you to whip up this cute & cozy sweater for the baby in your life to wear this Thanksgiving! What a fun way to show off your crochet, too, right? Everyone will be so impressed with your skills and see how much you love that sweet baby who is wearing the proof!

This pattern was a labor of love. I had such a wonderful time learning the round yoke (which I had never done!) and enjoying the beautiful wool yarn around my fingers (which I had never used!)

This pattern uses a 3.75mm (F) crochet hook and WeCrochet Swish DK in Forest Heather for the body and Allspice for the pumpkin. I absolutely love how it turned out! This yarn is so soft, but still sturdy. It didn’t start splitting until I had pulled out the pattern the 4th time to start over, so it is perfect for those of us who like to frog projects…

I guess I’m just saying I like to frog projects. I really don’t…it’s just that it happens a lot as a designer.

Anyway, this pattern uses the double crochet stitch throughout and is perfect for the beginner crocheter. It does use a stitch called the alternative double crochet stitch, which you can see a tutorial for here. Don’t be intimidated! It’s really not hard at all!

Fall Pumpkin Pullover

Anyway, I’ve told you a lot about this beautiful sweater. But I hope it shows you how doable it is. You can do this!! You’ll be so proud of yourself, too! Now, make it and show it off to everyone while you snuggle your baby tight.

Until next time,

Happy Crocheting!

Pattern Notes:

  • This free pattern is written for sizes 0-3 months, 3-6 months, and 6-12 months.
  • Pay attention to the gauge, because it is very important for the proper fit.
    • My crochet stitches tend to be tighter than most, so you may want to go up a hook size.
    • The brand of yarn can also result in a different gauge.
      • Use yarnsub.com to find the best substitute for yarn used in pattern.
  • This pattern uses the alternative double crochet stitch. You can find a tutorial for this stitch here.
  • Use the following guide for how the number of stitches is communicated:
    • The number before the stitch is the amount of times worked in one stitch
    • The number after the stitch is the number of stitches you are to work that specific stitch into.
    • When stitches are surrounded by asterisks (*), you are to repeat what is between the asterisks the amount of times stated.
    • Number in parentheses is the number of stitches in each round.
    • Eg. alt dc in first st, dc 7, 2dc, *dc 8, 2dc* 9x, sl st to join, turn. (100) means “work an alternative double crochet in first stitch, double crochet in next 7 stitches, work 2 double crochets in the next stitch, *double crochet in each of the next 8 stitches, work 2 double crochets in the next stitch * repeat the pattern between the asterisks 9 times, slip stitch in alternative double from beginning of round. (there are 100 stitches in this round)
