Free Cozy Bear Snuggle Blanket Crochet Pattern

Hi crochet friend!

Yesterday was my due date. It came and went and I did not have a baby. But I did type up this post and pattern for you and got all the pictures ready, so you can see how cute this little Cozy Bear Snuggle Blanket is. So, not a waste of a day, right?

This sweet Cozy Bear Snuggle Blanket is such a great gift for a little baby! It uses Bernat Baby Blanket Yarn, so it’s soft, squishy, and works up super fast. Also, it uses less than one skein, which is a huge plus.

Check out these awesome patterns I have using Bernat Blanket Yarn:

Because of my carpel tunnel flare up these past few weeks of pregnancy, I haven’t been able to crochet for more than 15 minutes at a time without pain, so this pattern took me a few days to complete. But if you have healthy hands and wrists, I’m sure this pattern would take you only a few hours to put together.

I do love a nice simple and quick pattern! But I also love amigurumi. While designing this adorable Cozy Bear Snuggle Blanket, I thought a lot about my sweet Freddy the Teddy that I designed many years ago. Also, Bart the Bear, who is a perfect mini version of Freddy. Classic Teddy Bears are such great gifts for babies. Don’t you think?

So, I’m guessing you want to make this cute blanket now, right? I thought so. Here are the things you are going to need to complete this pattern:

1 skein Bernat Blanket Yarn (I used White)

Black/Brown medium scrap yarn for eyes and nose

And that’s it! If you have any sort of stash, you will probably have all of these things. If not, you can shop the links above for all of the things you need! *The links above are affiliate links. This means I earn a small commission if you purchase through them. Thank you!*

Pattern Notes:

  • This pattern is written to be a small blanket for a baby to snuggle. If a larger blanket is desired, additional chains and stitches may be made for the blanket to make it larger.
  • Gauge is based on Bernat Blanket yarn.
    • Use yarnsub.com to find the best substitute for yarn used in pattern.
  • The head, ears, nose, and arms are all worked in continuous rounds. There will be no joining at the end of each round.
  • Use the following guide for how the number of stitches is communicated:
    • The number before the stitch is the amount of times worked in one stitch
      • 2dc = 2 double crochet in one stitch
    • The number after the stitch is the number of stitches you are to work that specific stitch into.
      • dc 2 = crochet 1 double crochet in each of the next 2 stitches
    • When stitches are surrounded by asterisks (*), you are to repeat what is between the asterisks the amount of times stated.
    • Number in parentheses is the number of stitches in each round.
    • Eg. “*2sc, sc 5* around (28)” means *work 2 single crochets in the first stitch, single crochet once in each of the next 5 stitches* repeat the pattern between the asterisks around. (there are 28 stitches in this round)
