Valentine’s Day is approaching! My husband and I have never really been that in to Valentine’s Day. We don’t give each other gifts, but we do use it as an excuse for a date night away from the kids. I definitely need those every once in a while!
So I’ll be honest that I totally forgot about Valentine’s Day until I saw all the other bloggers posting Valentine’s Day patterns. And here I am, a week after everyone else, posting an adorable heart pattern. The beautiful Heart-to-Heart Pillow.
Since I had a skein of Lion Brand Yarn Vanna’s Choice in Pink Grapefruit and 1/2 a skein in Lilac left over from the Berries & Cream Blanket I made this summer for my sweet Heidi, I decided to use those up. They were the perfect colors for this pillow. Look at how sweet it looks!
And did you see how sweet the little girl holding this heart pillow is? My beautiful Louisa is already 3 1/2! She’s growing so fast, and I just can’t keep up. She is my biggest fan, that’s for sure.
So head to Michael’s and pick up some of this beautiful yarn! And make this beautiful heart pillow this weekend. Happy Crocheting!

Stitches:
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sl st – slip stitch
Gauge:
1 granny square = 2 inches x 2 inches
Pattern Notes:
- This pattern requires 30 pink and 10 lilac granny squares and 21 pink and 7 lilac granny square corners.
- When connecting granny squares, you can use any method you prefer. I used the back loop only method where I make a slip knot on my hook and then slip stitched all of the granny squares together using only the back loops of the granny squares.
- I provide patterns for the granny squares and the granny square corners, but only provide a graph for how to assemble the 2 panels of the heart.
Pattern:
Granny Squares (30 pink, 10 lilac):
ch 5, sl st in first chain to make circle,
Round 1: ch 3, 2dc inside circle, ch 2, *3dc inside circle, ch 2* 3 times, sl st at top of ch 3 to join.
Round 2: sl st to fist ch 2 space, working all in ch 2 space, ch 3, 2dc, ch 1, 3dc, *[3dc, ch 1, 3dc] in next ch 2 space* 3 times. Sl st at top of ch 3 to join.
Finish off and sew in ends.
Granny Square corner (21 pink, 7 lilac):
ch 5, sl st in first chain to make circle,
Row 1: ch 3, 2dc inside circle, ch 2, 3dc inside circle, ch 2, turn.
Row 2: dc 3, 3dc in ch 2 space, ch 1, 3dc in same ch 2 space, dc in next 3 stitches.
Finish off and sew in ends.
Stitching together together:
Organize squares and corners as seen in diagram below. Slip stitch or sew together. (I slip stitched in back loops only.)
Finishing:
- Slip stitch two panels together with wrong sides facing each other using lilac yarn starting at the middle of the heart. (I slip stitched with the pink panel towards me. This provides a nice lilac border.) Stuff with Poly-Fil as you go.
- Once you have sl st all the way around, Finish off leaving a long tail. Sew the middle of the heart up halfway to make it less like a “V” and more like a heart. See below.
