How to Crochet: Cloud, Raindrop, & Snowflake Appliqués

Hi Crochet Friend!

I have 3 more fun appliqués for you today: cloud, raindrop, and snowflake! This is the 3rd day for the Creation Quiet Book Crochet-a-long. See day 1 here and day 2 here.

These patterns are so fun to make, and don’t take much time at all! You should be able to get them all done within an hour or so.

Once you’re done making the clouds, raindrops, and snowflakes, sew them onto a fresh quiet book page. The next patterns will be coming to the blog on Wednesday!

Clouds

Materials:

-white medium weight yarn

-dark grey medium weight yarn

-5 mm (H) crochet hook

-yarn needle for sewing

Stitches:

ch – chain

dc – double crochet

sl st – slip stitch

sk – skip

st(s)- stitch(es)

Gauge:

4 single crochet x 5 rows = 1 inch square

Pattern (make one white and one dark grey):

Ch 7,

Round 1: 2dc in 2nd ch from hook, dc 4, 4dc in last st, turn and work on opposite side of ch, dc 4, 2dc in last st, sl st to join.

Round 2: ch 2, 5dc, sk next st, sl st, sk next st, 4dc, sk next st, sl st, sk next st, 6dc, sk next st, sl st, sk next st, 4dc, sk next st, sl st, sk next st, dc in first st at the beginning of round.

Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing onto page.

Rain Drops

Materials:

-blue medium weight yarn

-3.5mm (E) crochet hook

-yarn needle for sewing

Stitches:

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

hdc – half double crochet

dc – double crochet

sl st – slip stitch

Gauge:

5 single crochet x 5 rows = 1 inch square

Pattern (make 4-6):

Ch 3,

Row 1: work all the following in 2nd ch: sc hdc, 3dc, hdc, sc.

Sl st into 3rd ch of starting ch.

Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Snowflake

Materials:

-white light weight yarn

-3.25mm (D) crochet hook

-yarn needle for sewing

Stitches:

Magic Circle

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

sl st – slip stitch

Gauge:

5 single crochet x 5 rows = 1 inch square

Pattern (make 3-5):

Round 1: Work in magic circle: *sc, ch 2* 6 times, sl st to join

Round 2: sl st to first ch 2, *{dc, ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, dc} in ch 2 space, sl st in sc* 6 times, sl st to join.

Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing onto page.

Sew appliqués on new quiet book page.
