How to Crochet: Butterfly, Flower, & Tree

Hi crochet friend!

Can you believe we’re already at day 5 of the Creation Quiet Book CAL?! Pretty exciting!

Today we will be learning how to crochet the butterfly, flower, and pine tree! Get the free patterns below (videos coming soon!).

Tree

Materials:

-green medium weight yarn

-brown medium weight yarn

-5 mm (H) crochet hook

-yarn needle for sewing

Stitches:

scfc – single crochet foundation chain

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

sc2tog – single crochet decrease/single crochet 2 stitches together

dc – double crochet

sl st – slip stitch

st(s) – stitch(es)

Gauge:

4 single crochet x 5 rows = 1 inch square

Pattern:

Row 1: Using green yarn, make a scfc with 10 sts, turn.

Row 2: ch 1, sc2tog, sc 6, sc2tog, turn.

Row 3: ch 1, sc across, turn.

Row 4: ch 1, sc2tog, sc 4, sc2tog, turn.

Row 5: ch 1, sc across, turn.

Row 6: ch 1, sc2tog, sc 2, sc2tog, turn.

Row 7: ch 1, sc across, turn.

Row 8: ch 1, sc2tog, sc2tog, turn.

Row 9: ch 1, sc across, turn.

Row 10: ch 1, sc2tog, ch 1, turn.

Working on the edges: sc down the side of each row, ch 1, sc across 1st row, ch 1, sc up the side of each row, ch 1, sl st to join.

Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

-Connect brown yarn at st 5 in row 1, ch 3, dc, dc, Finish off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Flower

Materials:

-yellow medium weight yarn

-purple medium weight yarn

-green medium weight yarn

-5 mm (H) crochet hook

-yarn needle for sewing

Stitches:

Magic circle

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

sl st – slip stitch

st(s) – stitch(es)

sp – space

sk – skip

Gauge:

4 single crochet x 5 rows = 1 inch square

Pattern:

Round 1: Using yellow yarn, work 6sc into magic circle, sl st with purple yarn.

Round 2: ch 1, *sc, ch 2, sc* in each st around, sl st to join.

Round 3: sl st to 1st ch 2, *3dc in ch 2 sp, sk 1, sl st in sc* 6 times.

Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

-Connect green yarn at last sl st.

Ch 10,

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc 4, ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, sc 3, sl st to join with flower.

Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Butterfly

Materials:

-purple medium weight yarn

-brown medium weight yarn

-5 mm (H) crochet hook

-yarn needle for sewing

Stitches:

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

sl st – slip stitch

sp – space

Gauge:

4 single crochet x 5 rows = 1 inch square

Pattern:

Ch 6,

Round 1: sc, ch 2, sc 3, ch 2, sc 2, sc on other side, ch 2, sc 3, ch 2, sc, sl st to join.

Round 2: ch 1, sl st in first st, sc, 6dc in ch 2 sp, sc, sl st in next st, sc, 4dc in ch 2 sp, sc, sl st in next st, sc, 4dc in ch 2 sp, sc, sl st in next st, sc, 6dc, sc, sl st to join.

Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Add body:

Connect brown yarn at bottom and sl st up center, ch 3, sc in 2nd ch and next ch, sl st to body, ch 3, sc in 2nd ch and next ch, sl st down center.

Finish off and sew in ends.

Sew onto a quiet book page wherever you find proper.
