How to Crochet the Bean Stitch

Hi crochet friend!

I have been working on an adorable baby set using the beautiful and simple bean stitch. So, I thought it would be best to make sure you all know how to do this easy stitch!

Stitches:

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

sk – skip

st(s) – stitch(es)

Supplies Used:

Baby Bee Sweet Delight Yarn in Pink-a-boo

4 mm (G) crochet hook (Looooove my Clover Hooks!)

Steps:

Chain an even number of chains (12 chains in picture below).

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch 1, sk 1 ch, *sc in next ch, ch 1, sk 1 ch, sc in next ch* to the end, turn.

Row 2: ch 1, work bean stitch in ch 1 space as follows: yarn over, insert hook into ch 1 space, yarn over, and pull through (3 loops on hook).

Yarn over, insert hook into same ch 1 space, yarn over, and pull through (5 loops on hook).

Yarn over, insert hook into same ch 1 space, yarn over, and pull through (7 loops on hook).

Yarn over, and pull through all 7 loops on hook.

Ch 1:

Repeat bean stitch steps (last 5 pictures) in every ch 1 across, sc in last st from previous row.
