Fall is my favorite time of year here in Nebraska. It lasts longer than in Minnesota, because the temperature stays a little higher a little longer. But the cooler temperatures give me a comfort after the high and humid heat of summer. My favorite part of the Fall is snuggling up under a cozy blanket and sipping coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.
This year I decided to participate in a fun program called “Here I Swap”. It’s a group of Lutheran women who swap mugs and give each other gifts. I’d seen friends participate for years, but I’d never tried it. So this year, I knew it was time for a change.
I wanted to include some crochet items, because, well, come on! So it was decided that I would include a scarf I had made years ago, a headband, and some baby shoes for the woman’s little baby boy. But I also wanted to make sure I included a mug cozy to give her new mug a little comfort.
I knew I had a couple of mug cozies to choose from: The Jumbo Coffee Cup Cozy and the Floret Crochet Mug Cozy. But I really wanted to do something new. And so the Autumn Comfort Mug Cozy was born!
The colors in this cozy are just perfect! I chose Lily Sugar n’ Cream in Chocolate Ombre. It reminds me of a yummy mocha coffee and the comfort it brings. And that, my dear friends, is my favorite beverage. Coffee and chocolate? Who could go wrong?!
The Autumn Comfort Mug Cozy uses one of my favorite stitch patterns: the lemon peel stitch. It is the same stitch I used for my Lemon Peel Baby Sandals and my Spring Lavender Dishcloth a couple years ago. The Lemon Peel is simply crocheting a double crochet and then a single crochet and continuing that pattern throughout. It gives a beautiful look, especially when using ombre yarn like I do in this pattern.
Enjoy the beautiful mug cozy! And don’t forget to share your finished product with me on social media #cuteandcozycrochet
